Mechanical Engineer

What are your challenges?

The Mechincal Engineer will support their cross-functional team with regards to mechanical design through automation projects, from conceptualization, to design, build, install and final commissioning. They have an inclusive feel in the team, and an informal communication style. Focus lies on the goals they want to achieve at all times. You will be challenged to make the customer’s dream of their new laboratory come true. You will be in close contact with the end customer, and will implement the final solution more with them, than only for them. Challenges lie in speed optimization, robustness and usability. The very supportive team around you has a lot of creativity going on which is used to overcome the mentioned challenges. This is a job that is never boring, and you are constantly learning. Travelling

to the customers for meetings and installations comes with the territory, of course.

Working in the PAS department, the position encompasses managing the mechanical aspects of automation and special machine projects for both external and internal customers. Normally these are automated laboratory setups for industrial laboratories. During the conceptualization, construction and delivery of projects, the person they are looking for is designing, drawing, ordering, testing, installing and commissioning the mechanical aspects of the project using a hands-on approach and as part of the wider project team. Typical work items comprise designing the mechanical layout and parts, putting these in Siemens NX, storing all PDM data in TeamCenter, having suppliers offer the items, receiving, and taking into production of the items. Also installation after FAT at the customer is part of this.

What do you need to be successful in this role?
